Narrative of Video:
The video begins with a shot of the earth. It changes into a flag-like image with the words USA Africa on it along with signatures of those who participated in the project. The first musician to begin singing is Lionel Richie. Stevie Wonder comes in a few minutes later and harmonizes with him. Stevie Wonder sings his lines and Paul Simon sings his. The camera moves to each of the artists as they sing their parts. At times the screen is split between two artists who are harmonizing with each other. The performers move through their parts. At the second chorus, the entire group joins in, and then the video moves back to the different solos until the next chorus. All musicians participate in it. At the end of the video the image of the words, "We are the world, we are the children, we are the ones who make a brighter day so let's start giving".
How the Music and Video Relate:
The video does an excellent job of showing the sentiment of the song and showing the many artists who came together in order to perform for charity..
Review:
This is such a
good video. It represents the song and the
artists well. Had it been done any other way, I don’t think it would have been
as successful.
